What Commit Archive is
Commit Archive is an annual public yearbook for software projects. For a one-time fee, anyone may add an eligible public GitHub repository to the current edition. The resulting archive page is a public record built from information that is already public on GitHub.
The service you purchase
- One archive entry for one repository in one edition (calendar year). There is exactly one canonical entry per repository per edition — if the repository is already archived this year, you are not charged again.
- The entry is refreshed during the year and frozen into a permanent snapshot when the edition closes.
- Purchasing does not require, imply, or grant ownership of the repository, and does not imply the project’s endorsement of Commit Archive.
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store card numbers. The purchase is a digital service that is fulfilled when the archive page is generated. See the Refund Policy.
Acceptable use
- Do not attempt to archive repositories to harass, defame, or target anyone.
- Do not attempt to manipulate archive statistics, superlatives, or (when they open) award votes.
- Automated purchasing, card testing, and abuse of rate limits are prohibited.
Content and removal
Archive pages present public repository data, deterministic calculations, and clearly-labeled observations. Repository owners may request removal; contributors may opt out of public display at any time (see the Removal & Opt-Out Policy). We may remove any entry that violates these terms or applicable law.
Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” without warranties. Statistics are derived from the public GitHub API within documented limits and may be incomplete for very large repositories (this is labeled on the page). Commit Archive is not affiliated with GitHub, Inc.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid for the entry concerned.
Changes
We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
